When I saw this on Pinterest, I had to try it. It looked so interesting. You only need two ingredients, tonic water and espresso. But since I don’t have an espresso machine, I decided to use cold brew coffee instead.
If you want to know how I made my cold brew coffee, check out the recipe for lavender latte.
I used the Fever-Tree brand of water but feel free to use any one you find.
I used the ratio of 1 part coffee and 3 parts tonic water. But I am sure you can mix up the ratio to your liking.
Start with 3/4 cup of cold tonic water in a glass. Slowly pour in 1/4 cup of coffee.
The coffee didn’t get the gradient I was looking for. I think this was because it wasn’t espresso. Maybe I will try it next time.
Hm what did it taste like? Well it was quite refreshing, like a cup of cold coffee. Bitter and bubbly. I think this would be good with some simple syrup or a little bit of additional flavoring, lavender syrup perhaps? Maybe some alcohol? 🙂 It is a twist to your normal iced coffee. I enjoyed it on this hot summer day. The espresso would sure make it stronger but I liked how light this version tasted.
Try making this with your favorite syrup or with some ice cubes! Sip Sip and hope you are enjoying your summer.
