You’ve probably heard of the people say “Bacon always makes things better”. Well they were not wrong. This recipe was inspired by a trip to Alaska where I was served bacon wrapped dates. It was not a combination that I would have put together but it works. I decided to make bacon wrapped dates and bacon wrapped scallops because you cannot go wrong with bacon wrapped foods.
This recipe is really simple and easy. It is something that can be prepped before hand and then just tossed into the oven right before a party. You can also try other foods like pineapple, beans, asparagus and any other items you can imagine.
To wrap you dates or scallops, cut your bacon strips into thirds. Wrap the bacon around the item and secure with a toothpick. Once you have all the items wrapped, heat your oven to 425 degree F and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is nice and crispy. Alternatively, you can individually pan fry your bacon wrapped items.
These make fun and simple appetizers and great as a snack for parties!! Serve them slightly warm.
