It has been two weeks now since I started my first batch of coffee Kombucha. How does it look like? Just like Kombucha. How does it smell? Like Kombucha with a hint of coffee. How does it taste? Uh that’s hard to explain.
I was quite surprised to find that after two weeks of brewing the Kombucha changed to a much lighter color. It was really hard to tell the difference between my regular tea batch and coffee batch. The main difference was the smell. It has a light coffee smell. The flavor. Well it is a bit fruity and sweet and has an almost creamy taste. It is a little bitter because of the coffee. It was pretty bizarre. I don’t know if I am a fan of it but I will give it a shot. I will brew it for a few more batches to see if the flavor develops. This first batch did contain some of the tea Kombucha to help it start. I am hoping the next batch would have a stronger coffee flavor. I am also wondering how fruity flavored coffee Kombucha would taste.
Maybe in a few weeks I will come up with some new coffee Kombucha recipes. The experiments begin!
