Eat it later … Cereal Bar

When you think of breakfast,  you will definitely think about cereal. I always think I will eat cereal for breakfast but nope. I would rather eat toast. The sad thing is all the cereal that sits in my cupboard.  Eat it now or eat it later.  I always eat it later. I opened up my cupboard and oops…. there’s cereal.  Hmm. Dad always said “eat it now or eat it later in another form”.

Today I decided to make the cereal into cereal bars and eat it in a different form. All you need for this recipe is peanut butter, cereal, and honey. Heat up the peanut butter and honey together in the microwave.  A minute will do.

Mix together all the ingredients.  Line a pan with plastic wrap. Put the cereal into the pan and press down with more plastic wrap.

Place in the fridge and allow to cool for an hour or more. When cooled, cut the cereal bars into pieces. Store in an airtight container or freeze them in little bags.  These are awesome as snacks or energy bars for exercise. You can play around with the ratio of peanut butter and honey.  Add nuts or chopped up fruits to make them different.

Cereal Bars

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 3 cup cereal

Lightly heat up the honey and peanut butter.  Mix all the ingredients together.  Place in a plastic wrap lined pan.  With more plastic wrap press down the cereal.  Place the pan into the fridge and allow to harden for an hour or more. When the bars are stiff, cut into pieces and place in airtight container. Store in the fridge or in the freezer.

Remember! If you don’t eat it now, eat it later in a different form.

For another homemade energy snack, try power spheres. https://eatitnoworeatitlater.com/2013/09/07/eat-like-a-saiyan-senzu-beans/

The bars are yummy. I can’s wait to try it with other cereal. I doubled this recipe and used a 11 by 7 by 2 inch pan. I got about 20 bars (cut 4 by 5). I like my bars pretty tiny.
