Tomatillos look like green tomatoes with dry skins. They are tart when eaten raw. My favourite way to prepare tomatillos is making it into salsa verde! Begin by preparing the tomatillos. You will need to remove the skins before roasting.
In a baking tray add 7-8 tomatillos, 5 cloves of garlic, and a jalapeno pepper. I left the jalapeno out because my partner cannot tolerate spicy foods. Broil the ingredients until the tomatillos start browning and the skins start to shrivel and crack. Remove from heat and prepare the rest of the ingredients.
For other fresh ingredients, you will need 1/3 cup of cilantro and 1 tbsp of lime juice. You can add more lime if you prefer a more sour salsa verde. Add everything to the blender and give it a whirl. The end result is an amazing smelling sauce that can be used on tacos, pulled pork or eggs. Enjoy!
- 7-8 tomatillos

- 1 jalapeno pepper
- 1/3 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- Broil the tomatillo, garlic, jalapeno pepper in the oven. It will be ready when the skins of the tomatillo turn brown and start to crack.
