Summer went by too quickly this year but I am still hoping for some hot weather this month. To remind us of those hot summer days I always fall back on shaved ice recipes. Over the summer, I was looking for some different shaved ice recipes and stumbled across this shaved jello recipe.

It looked very interesting and easy, so I decided to try it.

Start by preparing the jello following the package instructions. I am using a hand held ice shaver. I placed the jello in the mold provided.

I also tried making jello in a rectangular container and found that the jello was easy to cut into cubes.

I waited overnight for the jello to freeze. Then put them in my ice shaver.

The jello was surprisingly easy to shave, but it didn’t flake as nicely as regular ice.

The pieces came out in sheets and were a bit rubbery.

It gave an interesting texture but this wasn’t really my favorite.

We still enjoyed it on a nice hot summer day. Enjoy.
