Pear and Brie Tart

This is a very easy tart that is savory and sweet and would go well as an appetizer, breakfast, starter or snack. You can change this up by using other types of pears and I have seen recipes that add thyme and other herbs to it.

I made this recipe using Anjou Pears.

Slice the pears and brie thinly. I used about 4 pears and one round brie.

The key to this recipe is the caramelized onion. I made a batch without this and it wasn’t the same. I sliced two onions and browned in some butter and a little oil.

The night before you will need to defrost some puff pastry. I just bought a store made puff pastry.

Spread the onion evenly on the puff pastry sheet.

Layer the brie. Try to slice the brie thinly but because of how sticky it is, it is quite hard.

You then want to layer the pears on top.

Bake in a 375 Degree oven for about 20 minutes until the cheese bubbles and the puff pastry is golden.

Serve with a drizzle of honey. Enjoy.

Pear and Brie Tart

  • 1 package of frozen puff pastry (thawed in the fridge overnight)
  • 2-3 large onions
  • 4-5 pears (I used Anjou)
  • 1 round of brie
  • butter/oil
  • honey

Thaw the puff pastry overnight in the fridge. Slice the onions, pears and brie.

In a sauce pan, caramelize the onions in some butter or oil.

Pre-heat your oven to 375 Degrees.

Place your puff pastry on a parchment lined pan. Spread an even layer of onion on the puff pastry.

On top layer the brie and then layer the pears.

Bake your tart for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese bubbles and the puff pastry is golden brown.

Top off your tart with a drizzle of honey before serving.
