Jethro’s Fine Grub has become extremely popular since it was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. It is a local eatery that specializes in breakfast and lunch items. It is so popular that they opened a second location on Fraser Street just to reduce the line ups on the original on Dunbar Street.
The original location on Dunbar Street is small and only is able to hold a certain number of guests. It is normally packed with customers and is never without a line-up. On an average day, you will be expected to wait 20-30 minutes to get a table. The Fraser Street location is less busy and seats a few more but you can expect a line-up too.
The staff are pleasant, efficient and make an extra effort to make your day even when the place is bustling with activity. The breakfast menu has a great variety of unique pancakes, french toast, omelettes and eggs. I have never ordered anything from the lunch menu as I always come for the breakfast foods (because I love breakfast foods!). My order today was the apple cobbler pancake. They come in a double stack and is so large they fall over the edge of the plate. That is a one of the great things about this place, the large size of the dishes. My friend decided to get a breakfast burrito with gravy and melted cheese. He regretted his choice since it was larger than he expected.
My pancakes were delicious. There were chunks of baked apple in the batter and a dusting of powdered sugar. Right on the top, there was a large dollop of butter and a crumble. A great combination!! I ate the pancake and was extremely full after about 1/4 of it. I just could not eat any more. A lot of other patrons, stared at my plate as they walked in. (Yup.. I should have shared an order.)
It’s also a common thing to ask for a take out container at Jethro’s as you can see from the instructions on how to reheat the pancakes written right on the box. I packed my pancakes to go and took it to work. 3 meals later, I finally had to toss the pancakes. Eat it now or eat it later….. I ate it later.
I definitely would come back to this restaurant. My other favourite order is the french toast! Now I’ve got a craving to go back.
