Farofa: Toasted Cassava Flour

Farofa is a side dish made from cassava flour and is served on many Brazilian meals. The nutty and mild flour is reminiscent of toasted bread crumbs.

In a pan, cook the bacon until it is slightly cooked. This should take about 5 minutes.

Add the diced onions, minced garlic, and 2 tbsp butter to the pan. Cook until the onions are translucent.

Add 1 cup cassava flour, stir and toast for about 2 minutes or until the flour has turned a golden brown.

Season with salt and pepper. Enjoy on top of your favourite Brazilian dish.
