Kalbi Meat Marinade

Kalbi is a traditional Korean marinade for barbeques. It is mainly used for short ribs but can be used for other meats and tofu as well.

Put all ingredients (3/4 cup low sodium soy sauce, 1/4 cup sake, 2 teaspoon sesame oil, 4 cloves garlic, 4 stalks green onion, 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/2 grated Asian pear and gochugaru pepper powder) into a medium sized bowl.

Mix all ingredients together until combined and then pour over meat. Marinate overnight for at least 6-8 hours.

BBQ meat until cooked. Enjoy!

  • 4 stalks green onion, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons roasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 Asian pear grated with fine grater
  • 1/2 tablespoon gochugaru Korean pepper powder (omit if you don’t like spicy foods)

Directions

  1. Put all ingredients (3/4 cup low sodium soy sauce, 1/4 cup sake, 2 teaspoon sesame oil, 4 cloves garlic, 4 stalks green onion, 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/2 grated Asian pear and gochugaru pepper powder) into a medium sized bowl.
  2. Mix all ingredients together until combined and then pour over meat. Marinate overnight for at least 6-8 hours.
  3. BBQ meat until cooked. Enjoy!
