Pineapple Bun Toast

Pineapple buns are a staple at Chinese bakeries. The name comes from the top buttery crust. It does not contain pineapples. Making the bun and crust at home takes a bit of time so instead you can try this hack for an easy breakfast.

Start by softening the butter in the microwave. Mix the 2 tablespoons of butter with 2 tablespoons of sugar and a pinch of salt. Once mixed together, add 3 tablespoons of flour. At this point you will get a flour paste. Spread this over the two slices of bread.

Heat an oven to 350 degrees C. With the back of a butter knife make some diagonal lines. Using an egg yolk wash, spread the egg over the bread. Place the two pieces into the oven and toast until golden brown. Serve hot or with a slice of butter.
