Aloe Jelly Drink

I have been seeing aloe leaves in the grocery store lately. My son wanted to try it so I bought one. We first tried it plain and it was slimy and earthy. It did not taste like the aloe jelly drinks that you get.

The trickiest part for this recipe is prepping the aloe. The aloe got really slimy after cutting it.

It is easiest if you cut into smaller pieces and then slice the sides off. Then I sliced it into smaller pieces to peel off the remaining part of the skin.

Then slice the jelly into bite sized pieces.

Soak these pieces in water to remove some of the slime. Meanwhile in a pot make 1-1 sugar water simple syrup.

Simmer the aloe in the simple syrup for about 10 minutes.

Remove and allow to cool. The aloe should be less slimy and sweetened.

You can now add this to your drinks for a nice boba like drink. I enjoyed mine with some nice cold water as it was sweet enough for me. Enjoy.

Aloe Jelly for drinks

  • one aloe leaf
  • simple syrup – 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water

Prepare your aloe by peeling the skin off your aloe. Dice into small pieces.

Soak your aloe in some water.

Meanwhile boil your simple syrup. Drain the aloe pieces and add to the simple syrup. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes.

Remove from heat and allow to cool.

The jelly is now ready to be added to your drinks. I enjoy it in juices, and water. Enjoy this like a boba.
